Cosine Me Up - Whack
Some of the most important moments of my teenage years took place between 1:43 and 3:26 in this song.
Accumulated Knowledge
last night while I was drunk I jotted down a couple of unwritten wikipedia article titles, none of them were very good except “list of mimes dead by their own hand”
We are very honored to have Not Enough Fest Nola featured on the cover of Antigravity, our local alternative music monthly. At the same time, the cover choice and some of the commentary within the article are problematic and need to be addressed. Look for a statement from No More Fiction online and hopefully in the next issue of Antigravity.
I’m super happy to see NMF and a lot of other folks upset about Anti-Gravity’s coverage of Not Enough Fest. I think putting me alone on the cover of the magazine to promote a festival specifically aimed towards visibilizing and supporting women musicians in New Orleans is problematic and misguided. As one of the only male-socialized queers playing in the festival, an image of me does not represent the awesome ladies and lady-socialized queers who put so much effort into setting up, promoting and playing in that show. It is, however, another easily digestable image which, to the general AG reader, is just another weird looking white dude screaming into a microphone. This is not an underrepresented population within punk music and I was hoping Anti-Gravity would take the cue from NEF organizers and help us by creating visible and affirming coverage of women and female-socialized queers making rad-ass music. I also think the article itself is rife with the kind of inane and misguided bullshit that is the root of the need for events like Not Enough Fest. All that being said, one magazine’s flawed coverage doesnt erase the fact that the festival was an amazing success thanks to the hard work of the ladies and queers who organized and played it.
Life Lessons
I just received the author’s copy of the poetry magazine that I have no recollection of submitting to on ambien, the lesson here is something about the connection between drugs and art.
